Equipment Lending Policy

1. You must be a currently enrolled COD student, faculty, or staff member to check out equipment and accessories.
2. You must present a Library card, faculty/staff ID, or a valid photo ID each time you wish to check out any of the equipment.
3. Students checking out laptops must also present a photo ID along with their Library card. No exceptions will be made to this rule.
4. Students must sign a Loan Agreement form before checking out a laptop to ensure responsibility for these items is understood. Stolen, lost, or damaged items will result in a replacement charge equal to the cost of the item, plus a processing fee of $50. Students, faculty, and staff are responsible for the safety and security of the item while it is in their possession.
5. Items must be returned to a staff member during the Library's open hours. Under no circumstances should items be dropped in book drops, as this can cause damage to the equipment. Items should also be left with a staff member and not simply set down on the Circulation desk. You are responsible for the item until it is checked in by a staff member.
6. When the item is due back, be sure to return all of the cords, cables, chargers and cases that came with the equipment you checked out. The equipment will not be checked in until all pieces are present. Students will be responsible for any overdue fines incurred at $10 per hour, until the return is complete.
7. Upon return, Library staff will inspect equipment to make sure all pieces are present and in good working order. Please allow a few minutes for the return inspection.

Guard your privacy when using loaner equipment!

Do not save any passwords on the Library's technology equipment. Before returning the equipment, log out of any applications or accounts you've logged into and clear all passwords and documents.

Claims Returned

If there is an item on your Library record which you believed to be returned, please contact Circulation Services to initiate a "Claims Returned."

Payment of Fees

Library fines and fees may be paid in person at the Circulation Desk using cash, check, or credit/debit cards.

Privacy

The Library values the privacy of our borrowers. For that reason we cannot answer questions about accounts other than your own. Thanks for your understanding.

Library materials do not need to be returned until the COD campus reopens. Library due dates are being extended and fines for overdue items will not be assessed.

If you would still like to return Library materials, you can return books and media to the bookdrop on the north side of the SRC building. More information can be found on our Library returns page.

All Library materials can be returned to the Library Circulation Desk.

Materials can also be returned to any Book Drop location. All Library materials—except reserve items—may be returned to any indoor book drop. Reserves must be returned directly to the Library. In addition, non-book items (tapes, DVDs, CDs, etc.) may not be placed in the outdoor book drop.

SRC Building

Outdoor Book Drop

• Outside of the north SRC entrance
• Drive up access
• Emptied twice a day on days the Library is open

First Floor

• One drop is located on the first floor just inside the south doors near the cafeteria entrance
• Emptied twice a day on days the Library is open

Second Floor

• Near the Library entrance
• Emptied twice a day on days the Library is open

Third Floor

• Near the Library entrance, by the elevator
• Emptied twice a day on days the Library is open

BIC Building

• One drop is located at entrance IC3 on the north side of the BIC building.
• Emptied daily (Monday - Friday) and materials are returned to the Library by approximately 4 p.m.

Regional Centers

Books are picked up daily (Monday - Friday) from the Addison, Carol Stream, and Westmont Regional Centers and are returned to the Library by approximately 4 p.m.

From Regional Centers, allow for one day for books to be returned before due date.
