HS Faculty: Streaming, DVD & VHS Video FAQs

thumb_question.JPG
Don't find the subject that you need listed below? Contact Debra Smith, your health sciences faculty library liaison (x4305 or smithkak@cod.edu). Remember that our streaming video databases and Library multimedia collection are constantly reviewed and updated. The items listed below are examples. For complete holdings, search the COD Library catalog and video databases or contact Debra!

Using Library DVDs, VHS tapes and Anatomical Models in the Classroom
Faculty members can "book" (reserve) Library items for classroom use via the Library's circulation services department. See Classroom Equipment. Please note that if you want materials for longer than the normal reserve time (picking up a few hours prior to your class and dropping the item back off right after the class finishes), you MUST contact Debra Smith via EMAIL and get written (email) permission PRIOR to checking out/reserving the item(s).

When requesting extended check-out:

  • List specific item(s) to be checked out
  • give exact dates/times for extended checkout
  • provide a brief description of why an extended checkout is needed. For example, "if loaned to me for a week, I will show the video in all 5 sections of HLTHS 1105" or "I'd like to show clips from this VHS tape in my Mon/Wed/Fri class and my Tues night class"

The collection specialist, Debra Smith, will review the usage statistics and current booking status of the requested items. If it is possible to extend the loan period, Debra will respond to the request email with approval (or alternative suggestions if the request cannot be met as given). Faculty then print the email and present it to the circulation staff when making an extended reservation. Please remember that our excellent circulation staff are authorized to create bookings for standard times -- collection specialists must pre-approve extended loan periods.
